2010 Season Summary

Although I've been lax about naming our last couple of seasons, 2010 was very much the "Bucket List" year. We started the year by running the Sebring 12-Hour configuration for the first time ever, then during the summer we drove the full course at Watkins Glen (Wow!) and played spectator at the iconic Pacific Raceways in Seattle. I don't know that I have a need to run Sebring ever again (it's VERY rough on equipment), but I'd very much like to return to Watkins Glen and (even though Harriett thinks I'm nuts) race at some of the West Coast tracks (including Pacific Raceways) before I hang up my helmet.

In our spare time we continued to promote the GTA concept and even had Grassroots Motorsports publisher Tim Suddard do a video and write an article about our cars. And while I ended up the year backing Cuervo into the Turn 3 wall at Road Atlanta due to suspension failure, we also managed to win the SARRC GTA Championship for the third time in the five years the class has existed. All in all, it was a successful year.

I'm not sure what next year will bring, but now that our GTA cars will be eligible for the (new-for-2011) TA2 class in TransAm, we'll take a close look at structuring our season around selected professional events. If resources allow we may also take another run at earning a fourth SARRC Championship, but rather than picking weekends for points opportunities (some call it "spreadsheet racing") we'll instead concentrate on racing at tracks that are FUN! Obviously I'll have more later as plans solidify.

See y'all at the track...
